Obviously a defeat today, but if you’re a wee bit selfish for a moment, it was some save from Lafferty.
“Yes, but ultimately the result remains the same. I think we created a couple of late chances but first half we were poor and showed them far too much respect. Then in the second half we began slightly better and managed to pass the ball around. Obviously when you come to these places there’s a good chance that you’re going to be busy.”
Did you fear the worst after going a goal down so early on?
“Yes, it’s never a good start to come here and concede so early on, but fair play to the boys, they dug in and saw out the first half and then opened up in the second half and we looked threatening at times.”
Can you take some heart from that performance today?
“Yes definitely. This year we’ve been on the end of some heavy defeats. That’s what’s usually happened, we’ve conceded one then two, three and four more. But today we showed more resilience and gave ourselves something to build on over the festive period.”
I think there was something like 22 corners and 30 odd crosses, it’s a job well done from you and your defenders isn’t it?
“Definitely. The boys defended brilliantly from the front and the back four. I think you’d normally expect more goals from what they’ve delivered but all credit to the work our boys have put in and now we need to move on.”
