Hamilton Academical Football Club is delighted to announce that Morley Sports Management Group (MSM) have officially completed the takeover of 97.5% of the shares in the club from Seref Zengin.
In support of the change, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Rob Edwards, Neil Blankstone and Allan Currie to the Board. Rob Edwards and Neil Blankstone will take the position of Directors, with Allan Currie taking the role of Interim Chairman.
Morley Sports Management is a sports-focused investment and management group, with experience in strategic planning, governance and long-term sustainability within professional sport. MSM currently operates Welsh side Haverfordwest County AFC who compete in the Cymru Premier. The group are also proud owners of Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), a historic American professional wrestling promotion based in Louisville, Kentucky.
Rob Edwards, the majority shareholder in MSM and a former finance professional, took over Welsh side Haverfordwest County AFC in 2020 and established them as a leading Cymru Premier side, having competed in European competition twice in the last three seasons. Neil Blankstone is a Senior Investment Manager and Advisor with 40 years’ experience, and Allan Currie is a former Head of Inward Investment in Scotland. All bring a wealth of experience in business, finance management and commercial awareness.
The incoming Board would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Seref Zengin, the club SLO, and the Accies Supporters Association for their support during the bid to takeover and for accommodating in every way necessary; for the fan’s positive comments across social media to date since the public interest in the club, and of course the players and staff who have all continued their work to the best of their ability even in trying and uncertain times
There will be additions to the Board of Directors and operational staff in due course, and further announcements will be made about this, alongside information regarding the short, medium, and longer-term plans for the club. The priority at the moment is to ensure overdue salaries are paid to players and staff, and operational and financial controls are in place.
