Our u20s defeated Dundee Utd 2-1 in the SPFL Development League on Tuesday afternoon (19th April) at NDP. The game saw 14 year old Taylor Wilson, a Scotland u15 international, come on as sub for player / Manager Martin Canning near the end, for his u20s debut. Another talent coming through on the conveyor belt.
Both sides had chances in the first half but it was Ross Cunningham who fired us ahead in the 52nd minute from close range, after good work by Ryan Tierney. Tierney and Steven Boyd then combined for Cunningham to net his second in the 72nd minute to make it 2-0. Brad Smith pulled one back for United in the 84th minute to reduce the leeway and 2-1 it remained. A tight but deserved win; coupled with Aberdeen’s defeat this has confirmed us as finishing 2nd in the league.
Accies – Martin, Reilly, Quitongo, O’Halloran (C Granger 71), Canning (Wilson 85), Ferguson, Cunningham, Hughes, Tierney, S Boyd (Henry 70), Kelly. subs unused R Connelly, J Boyd. Referee Stephen Brown.
Next up is Tuesday 26th April, away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, 6pm at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium. The following week, our last fixture, will be away to Dundee United on Tuesday 3rd May, 6pm at Tannadice Park.
