Back in 1971 Accies became the first UK professional club to bring in players from behind what was then theIiron Curtain, Eastern Europe. Our then Chairman, Jan Stepek, a Pole, negotiated for the best part of a year to bring in three Polish internationalists. Former Secretary Scott Struthers mentioned this to BT Sport Commentator Derek Rae at Sunday’s game, Derek mentioned it in commentary, and the media have picked it up. Anorther former Secretary, Alan Dick, then spoke with the Scottish FA’s Mark Pryde and historian Peter McLeish was able to supply pictures.
