Stephen Hendrie Appointed Club Captain.

Hamilton Academical Football Club can confirm the appointment of Stephen Hendrie as our new Club Captain.

The 31-year-old defender who came through the Accies Academy and made his Accies debut at just 16, was capped for Scotland at U17, U19 and U21 levels.

Following a move to Premier League side West Ham at just 20-years-old, Stephen gained experience across England and Scotland before returning to Hamilton in 2023 to help us gain promotion back to the Scottish Championship.

Stengo has been involved with the club for over 15 years across two seperate spells and is set to make his 200th Hamilton appearance this weekend v Kelty Hearts.

Our newly appointed Captain spoke exclusively to AcciesTV today: “It’s an honour to be given the armband. This club is very special to me, it gave me my start in the game and since I’ve came back it’s been a rollercoaster, but I am buzzing to be given the trust from the gaffer and I’m looking forward to trying to end the season on a high.”

On the appointment, Darian MacKinnon said: “I’ve known Stengo for a long time, he was just a young boy when I joined Hamilton and he’s went on to have a great career with some great experiences around the country.

“I know I can trust him to work hard, push the other boys around him and drive standards.”
