Hamilton Academical Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Kai Smutek on loan for the remainder of the season from Scottish Premiership side Heart Of Midlothian Football Club.
The 19-year-old defender has been a regular for Hearts B this season, with 17 appearances across the Lowland League and Challenge Cup, including 12 as captain.
After signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2022, Kai received his first call up to Wales’ under-17s in February 2023.
Standing at 6 foot 3, the central defender will bring both height and depth to our defence in the second half of the season.
On the signing, Darian MacKinnon said: “It’s great to get Kai in and I want to thank Hearts for their cooperation in getting this deal done so quickly.
We’ve had Kai in training the last few days and he’s looked sharp and got stuck in which is what we need at this moment.”
